The New Mexico Tournament Alliance (NMTA) was formed in 2009 by Jimmy Hernandez, Joseph Baca and Gary Galindo. It is alliance of men's fastpitch Tournaments which travels around New Mexico and SouthWestern Texas. The tournaments consist of 8-24 teams based in New Mexico and SW Texas and is closely affiliated with NAFA, abiding by all rules and guidelines. NAFA assists in setting up the insurance and supplying the balls for the league weekends. The NMTA is a non-profit organization which has a governing body consisting of 7 members which make up the board of directors. Gary Galindo is the State/Tournament Commissioner. Jimmy Hernandez and Joseph Baca are Alb, NM  tournament directors. This board of directors includes a player classification committee led by Gary Galindo to rate players. The alliance has formed a constitution which was drafted and the league shall abide by the constitution to govern its play.

The NMTA is currently the only men’s fast pitch Tournament Alliance in New Mexico. The games are played on various weekends using Various Formats. 1) a 3-game round robin format on Saturday, and a single elimination format on Sunday. The NMTA is an The A-Major Division and the “A” Division or higher for NAFA World Series purposes. In 2009 the El Paso Steel played at the A-Major Division World Series and finished 15th with players that played at Alliance tournaments in 2009.  The Alliance has established this website to help inform and promote the NMTA. The organization is in its first full season. In August, the NMTA teams will once again be able to compete at the 2010 NAFA World Series in Des Moines, IA.

The NMTA and its governing body also work closely with NMTA Facebook Page to update the progress of the league and promotion of fast pitch all across the Southwest. We hope this group will quickly gain popularity all around the United States. It is our goal to be a significant factor in men’s fast pitch softball in The SouthWest United States for many years to come. Please feel free to contact us with any questions about the league or if you would like more information about the NMTA.
